If you were to walk into the St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Georges Hall playground this week you would be forgiven for thinking that there was a celebrity in their mists. Break time for many students this week has been spent looking up in awe and fascination at the developing 2 storey high mural by Sydney Mural artist Danny Mulyono that has been commissioned by the inspiring Principal Monica Palmer.

The student’s inquisitive glares and gasps of surprise at the ever changing artwork has inspired some students to bring in their own art books and sit sketching at the base of the mural, often asking questions and looking for advice.

The mural of Our Lady surrounded by Australian landscape beautifully represents the school’s values and Our Lady’s loving gaze and watchful eye as we celebrate 200 years of Catholic education.

Danny Mulyono, a self taught Sydney artist, “has always had a passion to bring dreams and vision to life.” His wonderfully hyper real murals grace the walls of shops fronts, schools, homes and now St Mary’s playground.

It is clear Monica’s vision, to inspire and unite the school community, has been realised this week with this invaluable opportunity and the blessing of Danny’s talents.
