Principal’s Message

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Georges Hall’s website.

At St Mary’s, we are teaching the learners of today and the leaders of tomorrow to ‘never see a need without doing something about it’ through quality teaching and diverse opportunities in a vibrant, Catholic community. Our dedicated teaching staff play an integral role in creating a rich and personalised curriculum to instill the confidence in our students and to meet the high expectations they set for themselves.

Our school is embedded within the dynamic Parish of St Mary, Queen of Heaven, Georges Hall and the leadership is shared with our Pastor, Father Laurence. It is our privilege to work in partnership with families to develop the faith of our children and to assist them in achieving their full potential. Our policies, practices and expansive nature-filled playground spaces actively contribute to every family within the school community and make a positive difference in our world.

As principal at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, I invite you to come and visit our school to see all the wonderful opportunities on offer.

God and us together,

Mrs Monica Palmer
Principal

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Georges Hall is built on the rich heritage and legacy of our school and parish’s early pioneers. Our beloved Father John O’Keefe and a team of very passionate parents worked hard to provide a parish primary school in the growing suburb of Georges Hall.

Opening in January 1979 with 99 students, Sister Edwardine O’Connell inspired by the work of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop became the first principal. Mr Kevin ‘Chevy’ Spencer was also integral to the beginnings of the school, with his extensive and tireless contributions through transforming the gardens and keeping the school pristine.

The fourth pioneer we continue to celebrate, because of her community mindedness is Mrs Elaine Donoghue, the first school secretary.

The pioneers were very strong Catholics who demonstrated values of persistence, integrity and belonging, and they have provided us with a deep community spirit which we celebrate today.

Our Mission

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Georges Hall, we are:

Parish Mission Statement

We the St Mary, Queen of Heaven parish, are called to be a strong, loving, caring family united in faith.

Family Masses, Feast Day celebrations and the parish fete are wonderful opportunities for the school and parish to come together to share our faith and build our friendships. Our nature-filled environment becomes a wonderful place of prayer for the ‘Stations of the Cross’ each Lent. The school and parish have a great devotion to Mary and we celebrate each year with a vibrant Mass in the school grounds.
