Religious Life

Our school provides opportunities for students, staff and parents to know and celebrate their Catholic faith. This is done through the religious life of our school. Members of our community experience a rich liturgical and prayer life, celebration of the Sacraments, faith formation, social outreach activities, and opportunities to share faith with each other and with youth from other schools in the Archdiocese.

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Georges Hall we aspire to nurture respectful disciples of Jesus under the guidance of the Marian tradition and Josephite Charism. Our student leadership is characterised by service to the Christian Values of Mary MacKillop; faith, kindness, generosity, hospitality, wisdom and stewardship. We honour our faith with our heart, head and hands through participation in prayer and Mass, a rigorous Religious Education program, and outreach opportunities.

Mary’s Feast Day is an important parish celebration on our calendar, and we warmly welcome our families to participate in our grade family Masses and Sacraments at weekend celebrations.

Staff at enjoy a strong commitment to their personal faith and each year participate in a Spirituality Day to grow and reflect a deeper commitment to their faith. Staff pray together regularly, contribute to Catholic charity initiatives and strive to be a model of Christ in their daily interactions with every community member and visitor to our school.

The school and parish work in partnership to nurture the Sacramental journey of our students. Our Religious Educator, class teachers and parish volunteers work collaboratively to inspire students to engage a deep meaning of their First Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation.

The school conducts a comprehensive religious education unit on each Sacrament and coordinates the Sacramental retreat days. The parish coordinates the period of Sacrament lessons and the celebration Mass.

In the spirit of generosity and outreach our students are involved with Mini Vinnies, The Pope Francis Award and support of Caritas.
